Another week in the office. I feel that I got used to it. And I know for sure that I don't want my future job to be a 40 hrs office job.
Last week/weekend was the celebration of the year around the city: carnaval. Even though this town itself does not do anything with carnaval, we celebrated it in the office, which meant some easy dressing up, photos and food. Because everything that could be taken as a reason to eat Berliners or anything else sweet, is taken is as a reason. However, I personally try to avoid carnaval as much as possible, which I succeeded in quite well besides one day in the office.
Last week, it was the birthday of the woman of the host family. She actually did not want to celebrate it, but I was invited to come over for a bit of wine and 'cake'. Last week, when I had to go back to the Netherlands, I brought them a package full of Dutch product, which means cheese, hagelslag, pindakaas and notenonbijtkoek. Guess what, the birthday cake appeared to be ontbijtkoek! So this is what they mean with changing perspectives: ontbijtkoek as a birtdaycake with a glass of wine.
Their daughter and granddaughter from Switzerland came over as well, so I was invited for a real Mexican dinner (the mother is Mexican, they moved to Germany four years ago). I am actually almost part of this family!
Of course I had to do something back, so I made them pancakes on Sunday, which they liked a lot.
Moreover, I went to visit a city quite nearby: Bielenfeld. Münster is on the list as well, but just to avoid carnaval, that one I save for next time.
I decided to join a quarter of a triathlon, so I am busy with training for that and I'm swimming a lot. Anyway, I won't be bored.
This weekend I am going to the Netherlands again, because I have to visit a congress on manure in Arnhem. Who could ever think that I would be visiting congresses on manure. At least, I couldn't.
You can take the girl away from the farm, but you cannot take the farmerroots out of the girl, I guess...
